These are all the things needed to get the most out of your tan. Preparation is key for most successful things in life and prepping for a spray tan is just the same.
Exfoliating leading up to your tan – did you know a spray tan has actually changed the dead skin cells in your body!! so removing all the old dead skin will ensure you get the longest wear possible out of your tan. You are actually shedding skin all day every day and even while you sleep so exfoliating is just helping this process along!
Nothing on your skin the day of a tan – as moisturisers, deodorants and perfumes can act as a barrier, they can even turn you green believe it or not! The biggest product to avoid is Aveeno moisturiser (unless you like looking like the hulk upon leaving the salon) and Deodorant. All these green changes are usually just a reaction to the bronzers applied and will wash off at your rinse but where possible; clean and bare skin will be the best canvas to be tanned.
Take appropriate clothing to put on after – Wearing loose dark clothing after your tan will ensure your fresh spray tan is not damaged by tight clothing, singlet straps or your seatbelt on the drive home. If it is raining, wearing more is better, the more covered up you are the less likely you are to get dripped on – we all know water is a marinating tans worst nightmare !
If you are going to sleep in your tan I recommend wearing a T Shirt, as if you fall asleep with your hand on your body you will probably end up with a lovely brown palm and handprint on your body.
